Spanglish Farms

Meet the Farm

We humans may be the care takers but we aren’t the managers around here. We plant things, build things, clean things and provide care and love but make no mistake the animals tell us what to do and boss us around.

Our Goat family and our Goose family run the show. I can’t believe we get to do this every day! Our garden, Our house, our land and animals bring us such joy and wonder.

We care for these crazy animals and this amazing farm and we are constantly learning wonderful things. Charlie is much more of a goose guy and absolutely loves his flock of Sebastopol geese! But of course I help out and love on them every day too. I am the Goat girl and handle everything related to our fluffy herd family and of course our chickens and Emu too.

We have a few laying hens, mostly Ameraucana chickens which provide eggs for our family. We also raise & sell two chicken breeds on occation: silkies & Seramas which sometimes make: Slikamas? Serilkies?…no that’s not right lol. whatever you want to call them they are a combination of silkie & seramas – Silkie x Serama Crosses which are the absolute best and cutest little birds around because of their fiesty personalities, tiny statures and soft fluffy feathers.

We also have four animals on the farm not related to our goats or geese that wander around and only have the job of protector of the flock and herd and that is our Emu, Our Duck Dewey & our two guard geese who are the noisiest animals on the farm by far.

Come Join us on our adventures as we keep up with all the farm life has to offer!

 About Us

With big hearts & big ideas we are a modern farming family

Our Herd

“We have high fluting goats and Regular every day goats. But we love them all the same.”

Our Main Man! Phantom – “The people call me Peanut”

Nigerian Dwarf – Amazing Milk lines, noisy little man, love of our lives

Our Favorite little boy…but Shshshshsh…dont tell anyone:

What's Peanut's story?

Peanut is hands down the sweetest goats we have and was bred from one of our favorite farms and the most important got on our farm too. https://thelooneybinfarm.com/ He has amazing genetics and his blue eyes and waddles are just the frosting on the cake. Peanut will be our main herdsire one day with his fancy genetics, amazing personality and wonderful place in our hearst we cannot wait to see Peanut babies! He is so close to our hearts and we snuggle with him all the time. He even comes in the house because he is just our special little boy. We are so excited to have Peanut on our farm and we have BIG plans for him. He will be our main herd sire as the years go because of his amazing personality and beautiful heritage. He is absolutely the best goat you ever did meet!

Have you ever rented Peanut out as a Stud goat?

Because of his great genetics Peanut would be a wonderful goat for many herds but we are very careful about bio-security and bringing disease into our herd. We want everyone to be safe, including our goats so we may at some point allow other farms to breed with our bucks but we will need to build a separate area to do that away from our herd to be safe.

Do you plan on breeding Peanut?

absolutely! Peanut will be our main buck for all our registered girls since he has such great heritage.

Why isn't Peanut with the other bucks?

Peanut is very small compared to our other bucks and so we have kept him with our whether (Castrated/Neutered) Goat names Merlin so he has a friend but he isn’t treated so rough by the rest of the boys. Plus he needs snuggles every day so we want him closer to us.

Betty

Nigerian Dwarf – “I want what you have…and pets, give me pets.”

Status: Not-Registered

Amazing, Beautiful, Sweet:

What about Betty?

Betty is the best, ask anyone. She does this thing where she hops her two front feet onto your leg and asks for pets and treats…its the best.

Who will she breed with?

We are still planning our 2021 breeding schedule and if Betty makes her weight and size goals we will consider adding her into the mix but she has to be mentally and physically prepared to be a mom. Still, we are thinking and planning around her breeding and we are excited to decide what buck would be best for her. We have a few bucks to choose from and with Betty’s perfect personality we really want to pick someone special. Maybe you could help us choose? Leave a comment below and lets talk about it.

Will we Breed betty?

Absolutely, when she is ready. Betty is too young. She coudn’t handle the stress of a pregnancy right now and we want her to be healthy and happy. At some point we will find her a love match.

What doe Betty like?

Alfalfa Hay, Pets and love, all the love. Betty is sweet and curious and is alwasy up for adventure.

Rosie

Nigerian Dwarf – “I want to explore and be your friend…especially if you have some food.”

Status: Not-Registered

Mischevious, hesitant, Sweet:

What about Rosie?

Rosie gets into everything and wants to be around you all the time. She loves to go off and investigate things and because of her small size she usually fits into small spaces and finds herself in trouble or adventure. She came to us with Betty who is her best friend but lately she has been hanging out with Little Pym.

Will we Breed Rosie?

Probably not but we will see. Rosie is very small for her age and doesn’t grow very quickly so we do not have plans to breed her until she is physicaly and mentally prepared for motherhood. We love her personality though so we would love to see Rosie babies someday.

What does Rosie like?

Alfalfa Hay, Pets and love, all the love. Rosie is sweet and curious and always into everything.

Bling

Nigerian Dwarf – “I want all the food, and I want your food too.”

Status: ADGA Registered

Bling’s story with us:

What are our plans with Bling?

Bling is from two of our favorite farms. The P & J’s Looney Bin Farm: https://thelooneybinfarm.com/ and also from Royal Palms ranch: Royal Palms Ranch.   We would love to Breed Bling to one of our bucks (Scooby or Peanut). Bling has had some reproduction issues in the past but has had several beautiful babies before too. She produces great milk and she comes from amazing lines so we want to see babies from her soon.

How is she doing?

Bling is warming up nicely to us and to the other girls and Scooby of course. Scooby does seem interested in her but only time will tell if she and Scooby will be a love connection. We are still considering breeding her with other bucks no our farm but if Scooby gets the job done we are excited to have babies from these amazing goats. Because she has had breeding issues in the past we wouldlike to get her settled (Pregnant) soon so we can tell if she actually can get pregnant again. (She has had babies in the past on other farms.) This is important because for a goat to produce milk or to go into the show ring they have to have had babies to show their amazing udder and be milked. We want to do milk testing so we need to have does who can breed at least once every couple of years.

Back Story

Bling is very food aggressive so she really doesn’t let anyone else eat until she has had her fill. This caused her to gain a little too much weight which might be why she has not been pregnant in a while. When she came to our farm we was well looked after but a little to heavy to carry a baby so we have placed her on a diet and plan to breed her this year.

Little Pym

Nigerian Dwarf – “I love my mom and mischief, whats it to ya?!”

Status: Not registered

My baby, Stubborn, Affectionate:

What about Pym?

Alright, so every herd has a favorite and Little Pym is mine. I couldn’t imagine the herd without her. She is sassy and sweet and extremely interested in all things people. She often comes inside and sits by my computer while I am working. Pym is defined by her defiance in many ways. She always wants to wander and just be herself and that takes a great deal of self respect which makes me respect and love her all the more.

Who will she breed with?

If we decide to breed Pym we will likely breed her with Stinky Pete. I think their personalities would go great together and I would love to see a doeling from Pym who looks like her father. Since Pym and Stinky Pete are both not registered we do not have to breed her with one of our registered bucks. Stinky Pete had a mother with a beautiful milking udder so I would love to expend on that for our herd as well.

Will we Breed Pym?

Maybe, I am very protective of Little Pym and while pregnancy goes smooth 95% of the time Pym is small so maybe at the end of this year but she has to grow, grow, grow and then we will decide if she is ready.

What does Pym like?

Us! She loves people and adventure. She loves to run and play and find grass to eat and she is into and out of everything when she wants to be.

Paprika – Our Resident Lanky Nubian Girl!

Nubian – “Come play! Come Play! NOW I said!”

Status: ADGA Registered

Amazing, Loud, Affectionate:

What about Paprika?

Yes this is our resistant beautiful lanky show Nubian. If one of our goats was a model it would be Paprika. She is absolutely stunning, sweet, has a voice like a train whistle and isn’t afraid to show her affection and her demand of milk and hay whenever she feels like it. Paprika is clearly a queen and one day will surely be queen of the herd. She has a big personality and an even bigger place in hour hearts. Our herd would not work without her!

Who will she breed with?

That is something we are still deciding! But it will definitely be with either Dragon or Dusty.

Will we Breed Paprika?

Yes! As the only Nubian on our farm we are planning on breeding her to one of our Nigerian dwarf bucks with will produce what is called a Mini-Nubian Goat. This breed of goat can be registered but is technically a cross breed. But that is far in the future, either at the end of this year or the beginning of next. Like all our doelings Paprika has a LOOONG way to grow before she will be ready for babies but we are so excited to see her kids on our farm one day.

What does Paprika like?

Paprika loved Dragon, Dusty & Charlie lol. She absolutley loves him and follows him everywhere!

Rosita

Nigerian Dwarf – “I want love and peanuts…not necessarily in that order.”

Status: ADGA Registered

Demanding, curious, affectionate:

What about Rosita?

Rosita is pregnant and will be ready to give birth at the end of May. We are very excited to meet her babies and possibly get a littel doe (girl) from her. Rosita is uncomfortable right now because of the pregnancy so she is in no mood for shenanigans or anyone stealing her food. In the last Ultrasound we saw 4-6 babies so we will see how many she has.

Who will she breed with?

Rosita is Bred to Scooby.

Will we Breed Rosita?

She is pregnant now and is due at the end of May with 4-6 babies (Last we checked) so we will not breed her again until 2022 or even 2023 depending on how she does with this labor.

What doe Rosita like?

Rosita is mainly concerned with eating and sleeping these days. Her belly is ever growing so we expect she will be cranky and ready for food pretty much all the time.

Godiva

Nigerian Dwarf – “Leave me alone and everything will be fine!”

Status: ADGA Registered

Standoffish, Playful with other goats, Wild:

What about Godiva?

So we got Godiva from a Farm in New York and she was transported down to us along with her paperwork. The breeder didn’t exactly say she was affectionate but we were not expecting the wild animal that came to our farm in Godiva. She is extremely petrified of us and unfortunately we have to chase her down to get nail trimming and health checks done. Over time through she has warmed to a few of our goats so I am hoping to bond with her as our relationship develops.

Who will she breed with?

We are still working that out. We have to determine this by conformation, Milk lines, and personality. Everything plays a factor in the decision.

Will we Breed Godiva?

Yes! She is just about 6 months away from breeding at this point. She is under weight but just by a hair so we may begin breeding her in August (Depending on her weight and hips) so that we have January 2022 babies.

What does Godiva like?

Godiva has started to enjoy Betty’s company which we encourage. We hope that Betty’s confident personality rubs off on Godiva so she becomes more affectionate with us.

Honeybee

Nigerian Dwarf – “I love doing my own thing but I could go for some snuggles too.”

Status: Pending ADGA Registration from Breeder

Sweet, Kind, Intelligent:

What about Honeybee?

Honeybee is one of the most beautiful goats in the world in my humble opinion. She has sparse dark moon-spots and a beautiful honey, golden fur, blue eyes and has the most affectionate and independent disposition of all our goats. I just love how easy peasy she is about life and how excited she is to see me every day. We did not get the registration from the breeder when we first got her and we are still pending the registration so it is possible we will not be abel to register any babies we have from her in the future.

Who will she breed with?

We will breed Honeybee with Peanut. I want to see if I can calm down Honeybee’s rounded, rough look and work with her butt a bit so we could try our hand at showing her babies (If we get the registration paperwork in that is.)

Will we Breed Honeybee?

Absolutely, maybe at the end of this year but she has to grow, grow, grow and then we will decide if she is ready.

What does Honeybee like?

Honeybee loves to be scratched behind her shoulder but she only comes up to be pet every so often. She is an easy girl to work with but she mostly does her own thing and we love her for that.

Dragon & Dusty “The Rat Pack of the Herd!”

Nigerian Dwarf: “Have any Milk. How bout some snuggles?!”

Status: Registered

Snuggly, Kind, Affectionate, Independant & Brave:

What's Dragon & Dusty's story?

Dragon and Dusty are Brothers who came to us from another great herd here in Florida. We instantly fell in love with them and we are excited to see them grow and develop into amazing herd bucks for our farm. Right now they are babies who need love, protection and milk all day long.

Will you ever rented Dusty or Dragon out as a Stud goat?

Probably not for a loong time and then I would have ot think about it. I don’t yet know these two well enough to recommend them to another farm so I am not sure what the plan is for renting with these two yet. Right now we are just enjoying their company and having these amazing little ones around.

Do you plan on breeding Dusty & Dragon?

Of course! Look at those baby blues! They come from an excellent line of goats who we are excited to bring into our herd breeding program.

What's so special about Dragon & Dusty?

Dusty is bigger, more passive and affectionate and defintely more interested in sleeping and snuggling with us. Dragon is rough and tumble, always getting into the thick of the other goats and finding adventure. I think he will make great friends with Little Cow one day.

Stinky Pete- “Our baby and The calmest fellow you ever did meet”

Nigerian Dwarf – “I’m cool with it!”

Status: Not-Registered

Affectionate, Calm, Sweet:

What's Stinky Pete's story?

Stinky Pete was our first Buck on the farm and when we got him he had Psunonia and needed extra care and love. I cradled him in my arms from the time he was a youngster and if there was a goat I considered my companion through trouble it would be this little guy. He is best friends with Endel Midnight and spends most of his time in with Scooby and Little Cow.

Have you ever rented Stinky Pete out as a Stud goat?

We would love to do so! Stinky Pete would be a wonderful goat for many herds who have pets with his calm personality, healthy physique and beautiful coat but since he is not registered we cannot guarantee his genetics. we are very careful about bio-security and bringing disease into our herd. We want everyone to be safe, including our goats so we may at some point allow other farms to bring their does here to breed with our bucks but we will need to build a separate area to do that away from our herd to be safe.

Do you plan on breeding Stinky Pete?

Absolutely, because Stinky Pete is not registered we will likely only ever breed himn with our other unregistered ladies. We are excited to meet his kids and love having him on the farm.

Does Stinky Pete get beat up by the other bucks?

Not really, Stinky Pete and Endel Midnight hang out together and Scooby and Little Cow usually duke it out in the pasture.

Little Cow “Loud, Mischievous, Awesome!”

Nigerian Dwarf – “But I said I want the Food NOW!”

Status: Not-Registered

Adventrous, Jumpy, Independent:

What's Little Cow's story?

We never planned on keeping Little Cow but he fell into our hearts and now he is here to stay. Little Cow loves the ladies and to be up high on top of things. His mother was a goat here on the farm and was a great jumper as well. He thinks hes top dog in the chain of command and we see him wrestling with Scooby a lot. He sometimes cries at the ladies and is always causing trouble and lovable joy for everyone.

Have you ever rented Little Cow out as a Stud goat?

We think Little Cow would produce great babies who are lively and personable but we are not sure about his genetics so while we are open to the possibility someday we would only rent his services out to pet homes.

Do you plan on breeding Little Cow?

Maybe, Little Cow is constanty looking for the ladies and trouble and we have fallen in love with his antics but is he a great repreesentation of a good Nigerian Dwarf? Only time will tell. We want to promote calm, friendly behavior, great goat genetics and milk production and we just don’t know about Little Cow yet but we will see.

What's so special about Little Cow?

His birth on the farm was a great event here and he has since become an amazing and lively personality in our family. We are still growing as a farm and sop far little cow has made his own place here with his wild antics and loud demanding perspective on life. We love hanging out with him.

The Scoobser – Scooby “Kind, Brave, Gentle and Perfect!”

Nigerian Dwarf – “Ok, whatever…just don’t touch my ladies!”

Status: Registered

Affectionate, Calm, Sweet:

What's Scooby's story?

Scooby is our main herd Sire right now though that status is changing quickly and eventually Peanut will take over his duties. We will still stay on our farm though for now. Most bucks go from herd to herd after a breeding season or two but we have no plans on letting him go to a new herd because we love him so much. He is frenemies with Little Cow and likes to be the boss with the boys. Most of the time though he also wants to be a lap goat and be scratched by us which is difficult if you have ever been around a stinky buck scratches is sometimes a challenge. He is our big lovable man and we couldn’t do any of this without him.

Have you ever rented Scooby out as a Stud goat?

We would love to do so! Scooby would be a wonderful goat for many herds but we are very careful about bio-security and bringing disease into our herd. We want everyone to be safe, including our goats so we may at some point allow other farms to bring their does here to breed with our bucks but we will need to build a different area to do that away from our herd to be safe.

Do you plan on breeding Scooby?

All the time! Scooby is constantly looking for the ladies and does his job well. Our first planned breeding for Scooby is with our doe Bling who we would like to settle (Get pregnant) in the next month or two.

What's so special about Scooby?

Scooby has great milk production babies, he is polled (Meaning he won’t grow horns) He is moonspotted and his personality is calm and friendly. We just love him!

Merlin – “The man of the hour”

Nigerian Dwarf – “I just want to be with YOUUUU!”

Status: Not-Registered & Wethered

Affectionate, Needy, Sad:

What's Merlin's story?

Peanut is one of the sweetest goats we have but he is always looking for his original owner who had to leave him behind through no fault of their own. We took him in and he is now one of our farm ambasador animals, someone we will eventually bring to visit children and the public as he is great with all people! Merlin is a wether, meaning he cannot have any babies on the farm but he is king in our hearts and is Peanut’s best friend.

Do you plan on breeding Merlin?

No, Merlin is a wether, meaning he will not produce babies for us but he has a place here as Peanut’s best friend and our faithful companion.

Why isn't Merlin with the other bucks?

Merlin can certainly handle himself but he gets picked on just like Peanut does so we decided to put them together. they ahve formed a lasting friendship and are happy in eachother’s company.

Endel Midnight “Sweet, Affectionate, Full of Life!”

Nigerian Dwarf/Alpine Cross: “Have any Milk. How bout some pets?!”

Status: Not-Registered – Wether

Snuggly, Kind, Affectionate:

What's Endel Midnight's story?

Endel is Stinky Pete’s companion and friend. He is always looking for human attention and loves to sit and watch the day go by while grazing. Endel is a beautiful soul who doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.

Do you plan on breeding Endel Midnight?

Nope, Little Midnight is a wether, meaning he cannot breed and is a treasured pet and companion for our bucks who can breed.

What's so special about Endel Midnight?

Endel was a sweet and affectionate baby who was raised by us and has always been kind and pretty mellow. He hangs out with Stinky pete often and they sleep next to eachother at night. He has never shown much interest in many of the other goats but we know he would make friends if he wanted to. Who wouldnt love that face!

Our Story

What are we even doing:

It all started with a dream and a plan. I always wanted to raise chickens…ok really I wanted to raise dinosaurs but after doing my research at at the age of 7 I realized Chickens, Emu and Goats were clearly the way to go…How would one even feed a dinosaur day to day right? Over time I realized that raising these tiny dinos really was amazing! I fell in love with raising food, re-building and designing our barn, coops, structures and buildings…maybe a house someday

We went for it. Charlie and I bought this house with two acres and the place is in need of some major repair with never ending projects coming from every corner. Here we are, with our herd, birds, our love and our drive to make it work. We are do-it-yourselfers with a little expertise too.

We specialize in Engineering and Manufacturing, Animal Care and Design. If that seems strange for farmers don’t worry, I’ll show you what I mean.

We are always learning, we designing, 3d printing and building our way through each project. We try, we garden, we care for our animals.

We post every week with a video and blog so join us!

Grow our own food

We believe in good food, healthy living and keeping our environmental footprint low. If we are successful perhaps we can expand out to the community? We are still learning but if your interested in my recipes and progress with the garden check out these pages.

The Birds

We love our flock and we love the eggs they produce. I am so excited to learn all I can about each of our amazing farm birds and their quirky personalities.

Farm Projects

From the old house to the shed, to the coop we have a never-ending list of projects and designs. We use SolidWorks, 3D printing and welding to bring it all to life. We do our own construction and engineering for everything. It is a wild ride we love to share with you!

Health & Fitness

Many people might lump this in with nutrition and I do think growing our own food is a big part of how we make health a priority but working out and fitness is something I am passionate about many ways. I share my journey, good and bad, struggles and triumphs in this difficult and rewarding area.

Twitchy the Magnificent - The Twitchster

Twitchy is a bird like no bird, a warrior on a path all her own and my number one chicken compatriot and ally. She came to us along with baby Serama chickens when she was young and she has never bonded with anyone but us and food. We respect her savvy street smarts, independence and beautiful personality. She will steal your heart just as she has stolen ours.
